Frequently Asked Questions
  • Why wasn't my garden Bloomed?
  • This year we have made some changes to the way we are Blooming gardens. We have decided this year we are asking the Gardeners to submit photos of their front yard/street scape (viewable from the street). We want to see when your garden is "Blooming" at it's best. Our scouts will be out to award the Bloom Garden Stake once we have ended the submmission period for photos.
  • Do you "Bloom" potted/front porch gardens?
    • Yes, We Bloom container gardens as well as in ground gardens. With container gardens we are looking for real plants not plastic or silk. Although they look nice we are looking to acknowledge ones effort in planting and maintaining the flowers.
  • What are you looking for in a garden to "Bloom" it?
    • We Look for well maintained front yard/street scape (viewable from the street) gardens. Gardens that are trimmed, watered, and dead headed. Gardens that are clearly cared for and appealing to look at. That does not mean we are looking for only over the top gardens we will "bloom" any garden large or small that is well taken care of. We will not "bloom" gardens with weeds, dead plants, and looks like it hasn't been cared for. Sorry we do not "Bloom" backyard gardens unless you are on a corner lot and they can be easily seen from the street.
  • What else does Buffalo in Bloom do?
    • Buffalo in Bloom volunteers plant and maintain the Gardens in Niagara Square City Hall's front yard. Those volunteers meet every Monday evening at 5:00 during the gardening season (May - September weather permitting) and are always looking for any extra help.
  • Does the neighborhood I live have anything to do with why my garden gets "Bloomed" or not?
    • No it does not. We at Buffalo in Bloom are proud of our great city and all the great gardeners we have in it. We want to show off everyone's work no matter what area of the city you live in. We visit every neighborhood within the City limits looking for gardens large and small. As long as you take the time to maintain a front yard garden we will do our best to find and "Bloom" it.
